Similar Crane Loco locos which run on Bentley Miniature Railway
Purchased back in 2020 by one of our members, this self-propelled crane was originally a true diesel-electric but is now more eco-friendly (and quieter too) running as pure battery-electric. With all axles powered it can haul a heavily-laden works train with ease.
Usually deployed on non-passenger-running days hauling our works trains, it has been found to be a "very useful engine”, and occasionally ventures out on rescue missions!
The crane on the back is a manually-pumped hydraulic item mounted on a 360degree base, and with the aid of detachable out-riggers can lift things such as carriages for the safe maintenance of their wheels & bogies. It has even been used for lifting a steam loco boiler onto its frames.
